Welcome to Danzza Tips !!!
Hello there, I'm George Agathocleous, art director of Danzza Dance Studio and welcome to our blog. This place is where we shall post stories about dance and share tips that will help you elevate your dance game to the next level !
So without any further udo, lets talk pelvis! Pelvis is the second heavier bone of our bodies, and it's very much responsible for the alignment of our spine. How many times haven't you heard keep your head up, lift your chest or straighten your spine ?
Well, all of this very much depends on the placement of your pelvis. Pelvis can move on X and Z axis and we can find 3 main stages of it's existence. A backwards tilted pelvis is what we call an external position, a forward tilted an interior position and a pelvis tucked under our torso a neutral position.
Is any of these placement wrong ?
The answer is no. A healthy pelvis should move and create body movement and rhythm. What is the most important thing to take under consideration is that pelvis should be in the place it should in order to serve the needs of our next move. As the Latin dancer I am, I going to use some Latin dancing terminology here, hold on to me.
Moving around the floor usually needs your pelvis to be in neutral position, aloud to move on the X axis creating rhythm. The time the dancer chooses to express through stationary actions, shaking and baking the pelvis can go everywhere, but the moment he chooses to floor craft it should come back in that neutral position!
I can talk pelvis and pelvic actions all day, but to me the most important aspect is the above. Treat your pelvis right and it will never fail you !
See you on the next one !!
